今回は私の大好きなスポーツであるサッカーに関して執筆させていただきます。
2019年9月、イランで一人の女性が焼身自殺をしました。この女性はある罪を犯し、逮捕・起訴されていました。その罪とは「サッカー観戦の罪」でした。イランでは1979年に革命が起こって以降、女性がサッカースタジアムに入り観戦することは不健全な行為として禁止されていました。女性がサッカーを観戦する場合、男装をしてスタジアムに入るしかありませんでした。しかし、ばれれば逮捕され、最悪の場合禁固刑が課せられます。焼身自殺を図ったこの女性はこの罪に対して「入場禁止は女性の基本的人権を奪う行為だ。」と主張し、抗議の意味も込めて裁判所の前で自らの体にガソリンをかけ火を放ちました。このニュースは一気に世界へと拡散されました。私自身、サッカーは誰しもが楽しめるスポーツであると思っていたので、大変ショックを受けました。このニュースをきっかけに国民や国際人権団体、国際サッカー連盟(FIFA)などから改善を求める声が強まり、翌月政府はついに女性の入場を正式に認めました。しかし、女性と男性の座席はフェンスで分けられていたり、女性に割り当てられるチケットの枚数も少ないなど、問題が完全に解決したわけではありません。
最近ではサッカーの試合中に選手に対して人種差別的な応援歌が歌われ、試合が中断するといったことも起こっています。これは海外だけでなく日本でも起こっています。
サッカーは人種、宗教、性別、年齢を問わず誰しもが平等に楽しむことができるスポーツであるべきだと思います。
私はそう信じています。

This time, I will write about my favorite sport, soccer.
In September 2019, a woman burned herself to death in Iran. The woman was arrested and charged with a crime. The crime was "Crimes of Watching Soccer". Since Iran's revolution in 1979, women have been banned from entering soccer stadiums and watching games as unwholesome acts. When women watched soccer, they had to wear men's clothes and enter the stadium. However, if they are found, they will be arrested and sentenced to prison in the worst case. The woman, who set herself on fire, claimed the charges were "The ban on entry is an act that deprives women of their basic human rights." and threw herself on fire in front of the court in protest. The news spread all over the world. I thought that soccer is a sport everyone can enjoy, so I was very shocked. The news prompted calls from the public, international human rights groups and FIFA (the International Federation of Association Football) for improvements, and the government finally officially admitted the women's entry the following month. However, the problem has not been completely solved, with the seats for women and men separated by fences and fewer tickets for women.
Recently, during soccer games, racist cheering songs are sung to players and games are interrupted. This is happening not only overseas but also in Japan.
I think soccer should be a sport that everyone can enjoy equally regardless of race, religion, sex or age.
