今回は、私が今年の春にインドを訪れたことについて執筆させていただきたいと思います。
私は、ある旅行会社のスタディーツアーに参加し、約1週間インドのコルカタとムンバイという地域へ渡航しました。このスタディーツアーの目的は、日本のフェアトレードカンパニーであるPeople Treeが販売している衣料品の生産者を訪れることでした。
ではなぜ、このようなスタディーツアーが企画されているのでしょうか。
日本は経済成長を遂げる前、”モノ”が無い時代がありました。
経済成長を遂げた現在の日本はどうでしょうか。
“モノ”は溢れ、欲しいモノはすぐに手が入ると思います。
いわゆる、多くのものが生産され消費される時代でありモノの価値は下がっています。
このようにモノの価値が下がっている一方で、モノを作るには必ず人の手が加わっています。
そして、多くのものを作るために、途上国でのスウェットショップ(労働搾取工場)や児童労働、環境破壊など目を背けたくなるような事実も、ものづくりの背景には存在します。
このような事実にしっかりと目を向け、ものづくりの背景はどうあるべきか、実際に現場を訪れ、見て感じ、考えを巡らせるために、そしてこの問題に一人でもアクションを起こす人を増やすために、このスタディーツアーが企画されたのだと私は感じています。
そして、実際にフェアトレードを行っている現場を訪れ、
・人を尊重しあえる職場
・インドでは社会的に弱い立場である女性が活躍できる場
・職場の近くに託児所を設置するなど福利厚生も充実していること
・フェアトレードを行っていることを誇り思っている人と空間
が整備されていることにより、インドの職人や女性たちへ支援が行われていることがわかりました。
このスタディーツアーを通して、ただ単にものを買うという消費行動よりも
モノの背景を見ることで、気付くこと、解決できることがあるのだと感じました。
そして何よりも、フェアトレード＝なんかいいこと、というぼんやりとした意識が
フェアトレード＝ものづくりをしている人の生活が豊かになっているという意識に変わりました。
現在、就職活動を行う真っ只中ですが、この経験は、
自分は社会に出て何ができるのか、どのように社会に貢献していくのかを考えるきっかけを作ってくれました。

I am Ayumi Sakaguchi, today I will talk about visiting India this spring.
I participated in a study tour of a travel agency and traveled to the area of Kolkata and Mumbai in India for about a week. The purpose of this study tour was to visit producers of clothing items sold by People Tree, a Japanese fair trade company.
So why is such a study tour planned?
Before economic growth in Japan, there was a time when there was no "thing".
How about the current Japan that has achieved economic growth?
"Things" is overflowing, I think that what I want is a hand soon.
It is an era when so-called many things are produced and consumed, and the value of things is decreasing.
While the value of things is decreasing like this, people's hands are always added to making things.
And, to make a lot of things, facts that make you want to turn your eyes away from sweatshops (labor exploitation factories) in developing countries, child labor, environmental destruction, etc. exist in the background of manufacturing.
Towards these facts firmly, how to make the background of manufacturing, in order to actually visit the site, feel and see, to think about, to increase the number of people who can take action alone in this problem I feel that this study tour was planned.
Then, visiting the site where fair trade is actually being done,
- A workplace that can respect people
- In India where women who are socially vulnerable can play an active part
- Benefits and welfare are also substantial, such as setting a daycare center near the workplace
- People who are proud of being doing fair trade and space
It was found that support was being provided to craftsmen and women in India by being maintained.
Through this study tour, it is more than consuming behavior to simply buy things
By looking at the background of things, I felt it was something I noticed and resolved.
And above all,
I have a vague consciousness, Faint Trade = something good. However, I
changed, Fair Trade = producers' lives become rich
Currently in the midst of doing a job hunting activity,
He made a chance to think about what we can do in society and how we can contribute to society.
