今回は私が見た「夢の本屋をめぐる冒険」というテレビ番組で紹介された書店について執筆させていただきます。
この番組で紹介されたのは中国・南京にある「先鋒書店」です。
この書店は「世界の最も美しい書店」の1つに選ばれたこともあります。店内では好きなだけ本を読むことができ、そのためのスペースも多く設置されています。朗読会やライブなどのイベントが開催されると毎回多くの人が訪れるそうです。
創業者である銭小華さんは「単に本を売り買いするだけではない。文化を楽しむための場所を作る。」という考えのもと、先鋒書店を始めました。公共図書館のような市民が読書と文化を楽しむ書店を提供しています。
銭さんは村おこしにも積極的に取り組まれています。人口が100人未満の村で公民館を先鋒書店にすることで、多くの観光客が訪れるようになり、村に活気が出ました。また、他の村から書店目当てで子どもたちが訪れるようになりました。書店ができることで多くの人が訪れ、村の活性化に繋がることは驚きでした。
また、紹介された中で私が特に面白いなと思ったものが「盲選」です。これはいわゆる本の福袋です。中にどんな本が入っているか全くわかりません。私は普段、買いたい本をある程度決めてから書店に行くため、盲選は自分が今まで読んだことのない本や新しい興味の出会いになる良いきっかけになると思いました。誰かにプレゼントするのもいいですし、自分で書店に行き、直接選ぶからこその楽しみもありそうです。日本にもあったら私もぜひ一度は買ってみたいです。
今は書店に直接行かなくてもネットで本が買うことができ、電子書籍も普及していることから書店の経営は厳しい状況です。私がよく行っていた書店も閉店してしまったことがあり、残念に思った経験があります。これからの書店に求められるのは、先鋒書店のようなネットではできない文化を楽しむ空間や経験を提供することではないかと私はこの番組を通して感じました。

I will write about a bookstore that I was introduced on a TV show called “Adventure for going to bookstores of dream”.
This TV program featured “Library Avant-Grade” inNanjing, China. It has been selected one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world. People can read books as much as they want in this store. There are many spaces for reading books. When events are held such as public reading, a live concert, and other events, many people always visit there.
Qian Xiaohua who opened Library Avant-Grade says, “I will make a space not only to sell and buy books but also to enjoy culture.”
He opened the bookstore based on this idea. He put a bookstore that citizens can enjoy reading books and culture like a library.
He actively works on a village development project. He changed a community center into Library Avant-Grade in the village has a population less than 100. As a result, many tourists have visited this village, and there have revived. Also, children have visited there from other villages. I was surprised at a village was revived by a bookstore.
Also, I am interested in “Blind Selection”. This is a grab bag of books. We cannot know what books there are in a grab bag. I usually go to a bookstore after deciding books I want to buy, so I think that it will be a good chance to run across books I have not read until now and to be interested in new things. We can give it as a present and enjoy selecting it directly. If there is a grab bag of book in Japan, I want to buy it.
Now, we can buy books on the Internet without going to bookstores directly. Also, e-books become popular sobookstores are in financial difficulties.
Bookstores where I often went have closed, so I felt regret.
I felt through this TV show that what bookstores will need in the future is to provide places and experiences where people can enjoy culture that cannot be done on the Internet, such as Library Avant-Grade.
