小西ゼミ3回生の射場慶太です。
本日も前回に引き続き今年度の小西ゼミの3回生のメンバーを紹介させて頂きます。

- 進級論文のテーマ： 中国内の経済格差
私が今までに最も熱中したことは、世界三大ミスコンのうちの1つである、ミスインターナショナル日本代表選出大会への挑戦です。大学入学までは中国の上海で生活しており、ミスコンテストへの出場経験は今までありませんでした。しかし、大学入学と同時に日本に帰国して、改めて自分が日本であることを意識し、世界の女性に国際問題解決の糸口を発信するロールモデルになることを夢に、エントリーを決めました。大学1年時にエントリーし、ファイナリストに選ばれ全国大会に出場しました。約3ヶ月の短い準備期間で私は、外見も内面も大きくブラッシュアップすることを意識しました。
ファイナリスト期間では大学に通いながら、ヘアメイク講座やスピーチ講座のために何度も兵庫から東京まで足を運び、休日は関西在住ファイナリストの方々とスタジオを借りて練習しました。常に「自分が今できることは何か」を考えました。最年少での挑戦であったため、ほかの出場者との経験値の差を感じましたが、短期間の練習の中でもウォーキングやポージング、スピーチの課題に取り組みました。また、SNSへの投稿内容にも工夫を凝らし、ありのままの自分を見てもらおうと、日常生活の様子だけではなくミスインターナショナルに対する赤裸々な思いなどを綴りました。この活動から、世界に自分を表現・発信していくためには、外見のみならず内面の強さや美しさが必要であることを学び、目標に向かってあきらめず、ストイックにやり遂げる向上心を身につけました。
また、この活動を行うにあたって多くの方々に応援の言葉やサポートをいただきました。これを受けて改めて、私も周りの人にポジティブな影響とエールを送る人になろうと決意をし、現在はミスの活動と並行してボランティアサークルの副代表として、全スタッフと対等に向き合うことを心掛けて活動しています。この挑戦を読んでくださった人々にも勇気を与えられるように、これからも精一杯活動に励んでいきます！

The thing I have been most passionate about so far is the challenge of participating in the Miss International Japan pageant, one of the three major beauty pageants in the world. I lived in Shanghai, China until I entered university, and I had never participated in a beauty contest before. However, when I returned to Japan at the same time as entering university, I became aware of the fact that I was in Japan again and decided to enter the contest with the dream of becoming a role model who can send out clues to solve international problems to women around the world. I entered the competition in my first year of university and was selected as a finalist to participate in the national competition. During the short preparation period of about three months, I made a conscious effort to brush up my appearance and personality greatly.
During the finalist period, while attending university, I traveled from Hyogo to Tokyo many times for hair and makeup classes and speech classes. On my days off, I rented a studio and practiced with the finalists living in the Kansai region. I always thought about “What I could do now”. I felt that there was a gap in experience between me and the other contestants, because I was the youngest contestant. However even in the short time, I practiced on my walking, posing, and speech. I also tried to be creative in the content of my posts on SNS, not only describing my daily life but also my honest thoughts on Miss International for people to see who my true self. Through this activity, I learned that to express and communicate myself to the world, I need to have inner strength and beauty as well as appearance. Also, I acquired the ambition to never give up and to stoically work towards my goals.
I also received words of encouragement and support from many people during this activity. This has made me determined to become a person who can give positively influence and encourage those around me, and I am currently working as the assistant leader of the volunteer club. I will continue to do my best so that I can give courage to those who read this challenge!
