みなさん、こんにちは。小西ゼミ4年生の岩本絵理です。

今回、私は「初めてのオンライン留学」について執筆させていただきます。
私は、今年の8月に3週間、タイのチェンマイ大学のオンライン留学に参加することになり、非常にわくわくしています。
今回、私が留学に参加する目的は2つあります。
1つ目は、「初めてのオンライン留学を経験してみたかったから」です。
私は大学1年生の春休み、1ヶ月半、カナダの大学へ語学留学に参加したことがあります。
その当時の留学は、現地で勉強し、現地の学生とふれ合うことで、語学力やコミュニケーション能力を上げていました。
しかし、オンライン留学となると、授業時間やアクティビティの時間以外は、自分で工夫して現地で留学しているかのように過ごす必要があります。
また、オンライン留学は、このパンデミックの期間でしか経験できないと考えているため、この環境下で、有意義な留学生活を送れると、今後の自分のスケジュール力に自信を持てると思います。
2つ目は、「異文化理解力を伸ばしたいから」です。
今回、タイの大学を選んだ理由は、アジアの中でも特にタイの知識がなかったからです。
今までアジアに旅行に行ったことや、関西学院大学が主催している留学のボランティアで、アジア人の友人ができましたが、タイ人の友人はできたことがありません。
そのため、タイのことを知るためには、絶好の機会だと考え、今回の留学に参加することにしました。
そして、私は将来、アジアの人と仕事する機会が多いため、アジアの方とたくさんお話ができるように、異文化理解力を上げておきたいと思っています。
また、日本人の方ともオンラインでコミュニケーションを取ることは難しい中で、オンラインで海外の人とも交流できることは、これからの人生でも大切になってくると考えています。
前に経験した留学とは環境とは違う中で、どのように留学を楽しむことができるかを想像すると、非常に楽しみです。
有意義なオンライン留学となるように、今から準備します！

Hello, everyone. I am Eri Iwamoto of 4th grade from Konishi Seminar.
This time, I will write about "My first time studying abroad online" on this blog.
I am very excited to attend an online study abroad program at Chiang Mai University in Thailand for three weeks in August of this year.
I have two purposes to participate in this study abroad program.
The first purpose is "I want to experience online study abroad."
I participated in a study abroad program to learn a language at a university in Canada for a month and a half during the spring break of a first-year of university.
At that time, I could improve my language skills and communication skills by studying locally and interacting with local students in Canada.
However, when it comes to studying abroad online, I need to devise my own way and spend my time as if I were studying abroad, except during class hours and activity hours.
Moreover, I guess that studying abroad online can only be experienced during this pandemic period. If I can spend a meaningful study abroad life in this environment, I will be confident in my schedule management skill in the future.
The second purpose is "I want to improve my understanding of different cultures."
The reason I chose Chiang Mai University in Thailand is because I do not have any particular knowledge of Thailand in Asia.
Although I have made Asian friends by traveling to Asia and volunteering international students sponsored by Kwansei Gakuin University, I have never made Thai friends.
Therefore, I decided to participate in this study abroad program because I thought it was a great opportunity to get to know about Thailand.
Moreover, I would like to improve my understanding of different cultures so that I can talk a lot, because I am going to have many opportunities to work with Asian people in the future.
In addition, as it is difficult to communicate with Japanese people online, I think it will be important in my future life to be able to interact with people from overseas.
I am very excited to imagine how I can enjoy studying abroad in a different environment from the one I have experienced before.
I have to prepare for a meaningful online study abroad program!
